Wow. I’m pretty blown away right now. What an incredibly concise and direct sum up of the absolutely insane, dangerous, and manipulative situation that we are now expected to swim around in. Thank you Jenny. Please, keep it coming.
Jenny I have a deep appreciation for your style of simple direct responses to the nonsense that is swirling around us. Really, I love it. I’ve now got it all written down on a little index card. I’m memorizing all the short phrases on this Friday morning. It’s calming my nerves.
My God, what a freeing essay for those of us with a shred of sanity and decency! Can I say here safely, I'm tired of being told I'm bad for being straight and white? I'm a female orthopaedic surgeon - a 7% minority in a vast sea of men - and no fake self righteous guilt riddled woman gets to call ME out for being a supremacist of anything. Thank you for giving so many of us the support we need to carry on, without feeling like we are the bad guys.
Thanks again for making Friday morning even better.
I sure as hell don't need these "deranged neo-Maoists" lecturing me about how I have to use their stupid gender prefix to avoid hurting their feelings. I'm a man, period. F 'em if they can't take a joke. They can suck an egg, shit in their hat, piss up a rope, pound sand, or whatever it is entitled morons are being directed to do these days.
The older I get, the more I embrace the philosophy of "just say no". In the Age of Lunacy in which we live, the word gets a lot of exercise.
"They show signs of having been universally fawned over, as if they grew up with parents for whom the word no was verboten..."
I see the exact opposite, of people who were denied something very basic from a young age, perhaps a sense of safety or security, who never got something they really needed (I don't mean the pseudo-needs of the consumer culture my generation enthusiastically embraced, but of an emotional/spiritual succor), and they're determined to spend the rest of their lives making the rest of us pay for their deprivation.
Well kids who are fawned over have been denied something very basic and crucial- healthy boundaries, which keep us all safe. Little kids whose parents don’t act like adults and instead try to kiss their ass are terribly harmed by that, because they are robbed of a benevolent guardian and protector. That said, I think you are correct that a lot of these people were harmed by actual abuse as well. Obviously we are generalising quite a bit in both directions.
"Little kids whose parents don’t act like adults and instead try to kiss their ass are terribly harmed by that, because they are robbed of a benevolent guardian and protector. "
100% I always felt like my mother was a 40 year old body being piloted by a toddler, and it was *terrifying.*
I do feel we have an entire generation who grew up in situations like that.
How awful, and I fear you are correct. I genuinely believe that the collapse of our culture is a result of parenting. That may seem reductionist to some, but it's how I see it.
I've printed out your italicized grown up manifesto and taped it to the bulletin board my wife use as a memory board.
I long ago found my elderly self wanting to move to a third world nation where I could help rural families learn how to better their lives by building rudimentary wind mills or stone and mud dams in order to turn a truck starter motor into a source of electricity.
However, those thoughts occurred within a brain that is about to enter its eighth decade living in a far less muscular body that has a brain with quite a few black holes.
I trust you will not be offended by my wanting to memorialize your call for all of us to take back five or six decades and begin to add large doses of moderation to how we live.
Perhaps a good start would be to stop listening to the relatively minor voices of those who want to move to a hell of their own making here on earth.
Thank you Jenny Holland for sharing this important essay with us.
Dennis, thank you for this comment, I thought I responded to it weeks ago. I understand completely the desire to flee, I just flee into my own mind where I can find peace in the real things.
Women screwing up other women. Crazy shit that should be laughable but in this Alice in Wonderland world where words can mean whatever you want them to mean it’s all fair game. I’m a male. I have a wife and daughters. We all feel the same. Pity those women whose distrust of their sisters has driven them to this end.
Thanks again Jenny. Excellent work. Thought I would provide a link to an article along the same lines w regard to the immature among us (young or not). I have to read this article every few months because I so enjoy its reading. It speaks to me on many levels, as do your writings, as like the author I first began working at manual labor at 13, and grew up in a family run business. One line in the article, "Critical thinking skills are best developed by doing adult work before adulthood" should be inscribed over the main entrance to all institutions of learning in my opinion. I came to realize decades ago in my early adulthood, that the world was seemingly divided into 2 camps, the reverent among us who were just happy to be here and live out the gift of our lives, and the control freaks. I remember warning people over 30 years ago, that left to their own devices, they would try to control the very air we breathe. They now are raising themselves to the level of God, whose very idea they revile in their unrepentant egoism.
I thought I responded to this comment, but it turns out I've just been quoting it to my husband and anyone else who would listen. Instead of giving kids an idea of adult work responsibility, we've given them exposure to extreme adult sex practices. It's an absolute nightmare.
It seems obvious that this cultural virus is Satanically orchestrated. As Scripture says, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12). We need to stay close to Jesus Christ and we need to speak the truth in love.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Ann, I'm very very glad to be of service!

ok that was hilarious- agreed
One more line for your response: “And you are no woman, cis or otherwise”
Seriously, I think that’s a dude. Sick, but a dude.
The TikTok-er? She's a woman -- at least I think she is?!? Who can tell anymore!? 😬😬😬😬
Exactly. Why are we calling this person a woman? It’s a man in a dress. With my granny’s haircut.
Which person do you mean? The TikTok lady? She is an actual woman.
Oops! But that’s even worse!!
Indeed. Evil handmaiden of sickos and creeps.

I say no to them and yes, Jenny, yes to you!!!!
Brilliant. A lovely, intelligent response to pure horse poopies.
I’m gonna use some of these bullet points!
Please do! And share! 🤣🤣
Out the park. Well said Jenny.
Bravo.

I am pleased that you found my comment worth the time. I and my wife look forward to reading more of your high quality musings.

This is exactly what I do, in verse and with profanity. Thank you very much indeed.
