Our dignity as human beings comes from God, not from the latest fad in woke government or woke anything else. We read in Genesis (the very first book of the Bible) that "...God created humanity in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
So do you believe that the Scottish have always been treated with dignity by other nations in the United Kingdom? Assuming as they (all countries in the United Kingdom) are Christian then they should always be treated with dignity as you mention which is outlined in Genesis.
Not everybody who claims to be Christian based on some ancestral cultural connection with Christianity is, in fact, a Christian. Historians can explore what anybody (whether fake Christian or true Christian) did or did not do but that does not change the basic biblical principle.
