Last week alternative media powerhouse and MAGA general Stephen K. Bannon was released from federal prison in Connecticut, where he had spent the last several months for refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena relating to the January 6 Capitol riots.
Over the years, Bannon’s daily War Room has become the most essential news programme in the English speaking world. In September, I had a conversation with War Room international editor Benjamin Harnwell about their flailing competitors in the corporate media. With only three days to go until the election and their coverage of Trump becoming increasingly hysterical and unhinged, I thought my conversation with Ben would be a salutary reminder as to why you should never, ever, believe a word that comes out of our so-called ‘mainstream’ media outlets.
At the very beginning of our chat, I reference shockingly bad faith and inaccurate claims made on Instagram by Italian journalist Enrico Franceschini about the riots last summer in the UK. He has just endured a year’s long legal campaign against him from the Italian government, from which he emerged victorious earlier this year, as reported in Politico in May.
