I’ve been busy these last few weeks working on a new project, which has taken up so much mental space that I neglected my newsletter last week. I hope you all found a way to manage without it!
I have a quick something to share with you though. Two weeks ago, I was interviewed on the new UK television network GB News! It was my first live television experience, and I’ll leave it to you to judge my performance. In case some of you don’t know, GB News was started earlier this year as a counterweight to the overwhelmingly “liberal” mainstream media here in the UK. (Of course, the mainstream media immediately proved its bias by pillorying GB News as some sort of deformed outlet for pathetic gammons — the UK equivalent to the MAGA hat wearing redneck. So I’m sure any of my bien-pensant acquaintances would be horrified I was on it.)
I’m not a fan of watching or listening to myself, and in fact even sharing this makes me feel uncomfortable — hence the two-week delay between the interview and my posting about it.
But it’s an interesting question that deserves a lot of attention: is feminism the answer to misogyny? My take is, no. Not even close. In fact, feminism is closer to being the latest disguise misogyny cloaks itself in, than being its cure.
And of course, my take generated scorn on Twitter — with one person hilariously calling me the Aunt Jemima of feminism. I plan on incorporating this tag into my personal brand henceforth. Never miss an opportunity, me.
Wish this had continued just a bit more. Eloquently expressed & true (in my world ... others might disagree). Read the book. I wonder what you make (and your father would have made) of the internet-driven change over the past few decades in the manner in which younger men & teens view women from the sexual point of view. Interesting piece on this topic these past days in The Guardian
Aunt Jemima seems mild. Your mother told me, back in the ‘70’s when I was demonstrating for abortion to become legal, that I was trying to be the Ralph Nader of pussydom. She claims not to remember but I have the letter to prove it.
TBH I'm not entirely sure I get the reference (I mean I know who Ralph Nader is but he's not like some towering figure to me) -- however that is quite a turn of phrase!! I may steal it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I watched the interview, and you are totally correct. The overwhelming majority of men have no interest in harming women. Feminism over the past few decades has only confused things by casting men as villains. The result is of no use to either sex.
Thank you. And yes, and look at the unhappy state of girls at the moment for an indication just how not-useful our feminism-dominated discourse has been.

Feel free. I took it to mean I was making a big stink and being self righteous.
Fabulous and mature and SANE! And Aunt Jemima looks GOOD in red! ;-)
That is VERY nice to hear, thank you Heather. 🥰
