First, as a third- and fourth-grade altar boy, I served Latin mass for our grade school’s nuns, the Sisters of St. Joseph.
More recently, I began semi-regularly attending a weekly Latin mass in the Philly burbs. Such masses are rare and I’m happy to have found one. I’m not super-religious by any means; I’m attracted to its majesty, emblazoned by it being delivered in Latin.
We attend the Latin Mass exclusively when we are home in Florida. We have to drive over 70 miles roundtrip to another town every Sunday but it is worth it. After only attending Novus Ordo masses my whole life I couldn't believe it. It feels like waking up, or like stepping through a porthole, I don't know, name your analogy but it is both rooted and reaching up, yes, transcending at the same time. Our daughter loves the Traditional Rite and wishes she could take all of her friends. Not a typical wish for a teenager.
Agree with you on Symbols! I see them everywhere and read them very quickly. This is a more recent thing in my life and the more you see them, the more the language quickly opens up. What is wrong with everybody?! Wake up! When people show you who they are believe them. We have to relearn the most simple ancient language of symbol-even though a child could see it in a snap.
People can start with pop stars-it's not difficult. But you have to believe what they are telling you, showing you and not brush it away.
Jenny the new podcast set up looks so much better. Great job!
That was a delightful Easter listen!
Hi Jenny,
I have two connections to the Latin mass.
Thanks for the terrific Easter video, Jenny!
All best.
Dennis
