As China and Russia grow their alliance, American military choses Drag, and struggle sessions
A Peruvian immigrant wanted to join the US Army. Instead, he fell foul of the new woke American military
Last week Russian government leaders travelled to China for series of meetings with high-ranking Chinese officials. I know this because I listen to the Duran Report, a left-leaning but smart podcast that focuses on granular foreign policy issues that I find very interesting.
As reported in Reuters: “Xi greeted Putin on a red carpet outside the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where they were hailed by marching People's Liberation Army soldiers, a 21-gun salute on Tiananmen Square and children waving the flags of China and Russia.” The Duran description portrayed it as two groups of friends— more than just allies — spending quality time together, discussing how to put the world to rights.
By contrast, throughout Biden’s term, headlines about US-China relations have described missteps and embarrassments. As an outside observer of geo-politics, to me it looks very much like the United States is a dying alpha male lion and the rest of the pride is circling around him, deciding when the right moment would be to take him out.
And what is the United States military doing in this time of tension and change?
It’s dressing up in women’s clothes. It’s ‘living authentically.’
It doesn’t take an expert super smart genius to notice that the west is in decline. I’ve been hearing it for most of my life, growing up as I did among Bohemians, lefties and revolutionaries. And in the last decade, as our culture wars have become more and more impactful, it’s become a familiar lament even among normies who used to be gung-ho about our society.
We all remember from a few years ago, the high-ranking military officials suddenly appearing in drag. It was a shock, even to someone like me who had been following woke toxicity for years at that point. I remember thinking at the time that, maybe, just maybe, the generals in drag were just a virtue signal, and perhaps behind the scenes competent males who know the difference between private behaviour and public professionalism, were still in charge.
A few months ago I heard an interview on Bannon’s War Room that showed just how far down the ranks the madness has gone.
The interview was with Sonny Borelli, an Arizona state senator, about a Peruvian immigrant who had joined the Army only to fall afoul of political correctness.
Senator Borelli recounted how Private Maranon was not allowed to graduate with his platoon, was forced to sleep on a cot in a gym for months, was forbidden even from entering the mess hall to eat — so no hot food — and had his mail kept from him, which is a felony.
The authorities even delayed his leave to go to his pregnant wife as she was going into labour.
What was this man’s crime? Expressing his support for Donald Trump, which offended a fellow female trainee who was black, and rejecting the advances of another fellow trainee soldier, a gay man, explaining that not only was he married, he was also a Christian. “Next thing you know, he’s a homophobe,” the Arizona senator said.
As Bannon said in the interview: “This is Red Guard, Mao struggle session.” Sorry progressives and liberals — Bannon is spot on.
The story was also featured in the libertarian-leaning news site UncoverDC.
“Maranon is a conservative, traditional, religious young man who emigrated from Peru, a country besieged for decades by the Shining Path. Having grown up in a Socialist country, Maranon understands the opportunities America offers its people,” wrote Wendi Strauch Mahoney.
Yet the United States Army hounded him out of its ranks.
I have no doubt that there are plenty of small injustices meted out to low-rank soldiers in the Chinese and Russian militaries — and plenty of large ones as well. These countries are hardly bastions of freedom and equality.
But the case of Private Maranon shows us something very important. Woke operates on multiple levels. On the macro level, it acts as a warning signal to muddled libs who still think that they should just be nice to malevolent deviants like the men in women’s toilets and porn-pushing bureaucrats on school boards. They see gay kids featured in corporate propaganda, lip gloss shining and brightly coloured clothes screaming ‘look! Look how happy we are!’. The muddled libs implicitly understand that to question this propaganda is to exhibit signs of Not Being Nice. Not Being Nice is a terminal condition.
But on a micro level, woke allows spiteful midwits to exercise tyranny in miniature over people they have petty beefs with. All the banal encounters we have with our peers throughout the day can be catalogued and spun against us, to make us into the enemy. The mindless gestures, the off-hand remarks, the facial expressions. They can all lead us to, as Bannon points out, the Maoist struggle session.
Most profoundly perhaps, woke is also an attack on masculine competence, and serves the very useful purpose of demoralising the strong and the able in our society. Because not only can their hard work be undone, and they can even be punished for it, simply because of personal grudges based on identity.
The only thing that disturbs me more than this essay is knowing that, if I tried to share this essay with my liberal family members and friends, they wouldn't read it. : (
This is very disturbing but not surprising. No wonder it is getting harder and harder to recruit good people to today's military. When the military is in the business of harassing and driving out good people, the national defense is impacted, and the country is in peril. This is one more indication that the world is getting more disordered by the day as we move toward the culmination of history as we know it. Stay close to Jesus Christ as his return gets ever closer.
