The Trump miracle
The blob, the PMC, the elites, whatever you want to call them, they can't stop now. The more they attack him, the higher the stakes. It's existential. Against it all, he somehow endures.
I break with my regularly scheduled programming this week, in response to this uniquely perilous moment, in a time that feels made up of uniquely perilous moments all piling up on each other to the extent that it now feels like a four year long crisis. A crisis that is political, sure, but also moral and spiritual and totally unprecedented in my lifetime.
As everyone saw over the weekend, Donald Trump missed being assassinated on Saturday, by a few millimetres — when a sniper’s bullet whizzed past his face and took off part of his ear, as he was giving a speech from a podium at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. In footage the whole world is now discussing, dissecting and debating, as he was being hustled off the stage, he raised his clenched fist and mouthed the word “FIGHT” as blood smeared his cheek.
I’m as cynical as the next disaffected Gen X’er. But I was bowled over by Trump’s poise and presence of mind as the action unfolded around him. I watched the video of the bullet grazing him over and over again. What strikes me the most is that he had the wherewithal, in the seconds after losing a piece of his ear, to accurately assess what was happening and duck for cover. Before the Secret Service even got to him, he figured it out and took the correct course of action. As Dan Bongino said, he saved his own life. Just imagine Biden standing up there. Would he have even noticed? Would he have survived? Doubtful on both counts.
The defiant fist punch was even more extraordinary. So extraordinary, in fact, that I can just about forgive a person for harbouring a brief suspicion that it was somehow staged — although upon even a moment’s reflection, you realise it could not have been.
How can you possibly arrange for someone to fire a bullet at your head in such a way that it clips your ear and causes you to bleed photogenically so you can get a great photo op, but without splattering your brains everywhere? The suspicion does not comply with physics. But I think it stems from the fact that it was such an iconic moment, that it did in fact feel cinematic, or hyper-real, like watching the Twin Towers collapse on 9/11. A significant element to Trump’s response, to me, was the evident emotion on his face, his human reaction in that moment was real. It was genuine. It was instinct. And that instinct was to project strength, and fight like hell.
Of course, libtards ruin everything, and so an understandable double-take, a ‘I can’t believe what I just witnessed’ vibe was transformed into a fully-fledged conspiracy theory driven by pure, unadulterated, hatred not just for Trump, but for all the working class people who love him — including the man who was killed by the sniper.
The only way to accurately and rationally explain what happened at that podium is through the language of miracles and the hand of God. If you are in the grips of the demonic forces of our time, of course, you will be unable to see the truth in that, and you will continue to dwell in hatred and cynicism and fear — fear that maybe, just maybe, there are bigger forces at work here than our puny minds can accept. This is not to imply in any way that there are not also sinister, worldly forces at play here, ones that allowed this catastrophic failure of security to happen. But on Saturday, the world witnessed a miracle. That has not — to my knowledge anyway — happened live on TV before.
Unfortunately, Saturday’s attack was just the latest in a line of unprecedented, norm-shattering, bad behaviour directed at Trump and his supporters — the average Joe’s and Jane’s of America.
Let me refresh your memories. The insane po-faced propaganda to bully and cajole Americans into getting the COVID shots. The fake Jan 6 committee, produced by television news execs. The leak of the Supreme Court decision on Roe vs Wade. The raid on Mar-a-Lago. The batshit crazy Georgia jury forewoman interview. The indictment after indictment. The totally unhinged E. Jean Carroll. Of all this — ALL OF IT — was so obviously fake, so obviously political, so obviously without merit. Each of these things I mentioned, just from memory, are things the likes of which just did not happen before in the public news cycle. I remember. I have been watching, paying attention, and often working in this space, for coming up on three decades now. American politics and television news has always been a bit of a hyper-spectacle, but there used to be some adults and some decorum. No longer.
Even worse, when those crazy things did happen, they went mostly unacknowledged by the liberal establishment — at least in terms of how unprecedented they were. Each one of those things I listed would have been a huge story on their own, and by the right-leaning and indie media, they were treated as such. But in the world of the Trump Deranged Liberal, they were greeted with a collective shrug.
Every boundary-crushing story gets significantly crazier. The Trump-Biden debate seemed to wake a few liberals up, because it too was totally unprecedented, scary, and historically terrible. But Trump getting shot in the head, and then turning the terrifying moment into a war-cry has outdone even that. And fair enough, even some lefties are giving him kudos. But for the most part, the journalists and Dem operatives are carrying on their myopic and increasingly Quixotic campaign to defeat him. On Sunday, The New York Times actually published the headline: “He failed the tests of leadership.”
The progressive-liberal-left side of America is trapped in a delusion that they cannot escape from. Their leading lights are actually pathetic mediocrities who have been raised in a world of privilege so protected it is practically hermetically sealed: from prep school to Ivy League to just the right jobs, just the right marriages, just the right opinions. This has given them the misimpression that they are somehow smart and valuable. To give just one recent example, Democratic “strategist” Dmitri Mehlhorn fired off a semi-coherent missive to journalists at 7:34pm on Saturday, not even two hours after Trump was shot, saying:
“[One] possibility -- which feels horrific and alien and absurd in America, but is quite common globally -- is that this ‘shooting’ was encouraged and maybe even staged so Trump could get the photos and benefit from the backlash. This is a classic Russian tactic, such as when Putin killed 300 civilians in 1999 and blamed it on terrorists to ride the backlash to winning power. Others who have embraced this tactic of committing raw evil and then benefitting from the backlash include Hamas on October 7. If any Trump officials encouraged or knew of this attack, that is morally horrific, and Republicans of decency must demand that Trump step down as unfit.”
This is pure word salad. Leaving aside the appalling moral failure of blaming Trump for his own assassination attempt, it makes absolutely no sense in terms of cogent argument, or even the most basic comparing one thing to another thing. Before reading this, I had never heard of this person, and maybe he’s pure as the driven snow. But his idiotic email reads like something that you’d concoct after doing a few lines of coke with your mates at the after-party.
This significant demographic is divided in several different ways, and has higher and lower tiers of influence, to be sure. But broadly defined, the professional managerial class is a blob of interwoven interests and dependencies, and it has tried for going on ten years to destroy Trump. They have consistently failed.
But this only means they cannot stop now. They can never stop. The more they attack him, the more they raise the stakes on themselves. They have already destroyed almost every democratic norm and psychologically raped their own people. If they lose now, if they are truly exposed (and I mean not just among non-elites like us — we’ve had their number for a long time now, but we don’t count), they are done for. It’s existential for them.
There is some good news here. This blob, this PMC, this caste of liberal-progressive elites — they do seem to be doing a shit job. Perhaps — due to their systemically entrenched set of power privileges — the only thing that will take them down is their own incompetence.
In the meantime, I hope Trump starts to pay for his own private security. Nothing about these snakes can be trusted.
