Are the libs ok?
Hysterical pastors! Michelle Obama’s groceries! Democrats spitting on people! Murderous fantasies! My round-up of liberal dramatics.
So we are well past the Trump administration’s 100th day, and the year is zipping along at a scarily fast clip.
And yet, as I keep saying, the liberal-progressives of America do not seem to be coming to terms with the ascendance of MAGA in any way. If anything, they are getting more unhinged and more willing than ever before to flaunt their undeserved privilege (oh, the irony!)
Is this like when a perpetually indulged six year old hears the word no for the first time? Or is a rotten Ancien Régime being exposed to sunlight for the first time, and inhaling its own stink? They are certainly high on the fumes of their own righteousness.
Let’s go through a few examples, shall we?
Some “pastor” with an inexplicably large following wrote a Substack so histrionic that I imagine him wearing a Joan Crawford wig and pale pancake makeup while he wrote it. The headline? Just a casual, “For America’s Survival, His Supporters Must Be Ostracised.” Note the absence of the word Trump in the headline, but we all immediately know who he’s talking about. That’s the magical power the president has over these addled brains. The mere mention of his name is too triggering.
The piece itself is a tour de force of nuclear guilt-tripping with a thinly veiled genocidal rage.
But here’s one small snippet of this totally normal and chill article.
The war crimes in Gaza and Ukraine.
The medical relief, ripped from the poorest of the world.
The scalding panic felt by immigrants, both documented and undocumented.
They are culpable for all of it.
In case you didn’t realise it, the ‘they’ in that Nobel Prize worthy passage is you, dear reader, you stupid ungrateful rube; and me, and the millions like us who are desperate for reform and a return to sanity.
Because of all the terrible things we have done, this very sane and deliberative Christian who totally has a handle on all his emotions, says Trump voters “do not deserve proximity with those of us who are hourly pushing back against the criminality, exposing the atrocities, caring for those under duress. They are nothing but barriers to healing and obstacles to justice.”
Trump voters are nothing but barriers and obstacles? So I guess this guy knows how to farm his own food, fix his own car, police his own streets and run his own electricity lines? Otherwise he might come near a filthy, untouchable, non-human, Trump voter.
You, dear reader, and I are “fully complicit in this carnage” We are “collaborators.”
The only thing for it, Pastor Pavlova says, is for angels and saints like himself to “withhold our friendship, exclude them from our holiday gatherings, cut personal and professional ties, and practically speaking, marginalise them.”
This kind of reminds me of those viral social media posts of morbidly obese women with high-cut bangs and raging personality disorders, screaming that they will refuse to sleep with men until they are allowed to murder babies again. He means it to be a threat, but it actually sounds like sweet relief.
Also, this very calm and insightful writer does not seem to have noticed that people like him already banned us from the holiday parties: for not getting the Covid vaccine, or not putting a black square in our Instagram to pay home to St George Floyd, or for suggesting that Trump maybe was not literally Hitler.
So, like, whatever, John, you are just going to have to keep your murderous rage in your own family this Thanksgiving. We’ve been off the list for years.
Ok, ok, this looney tune is low-hanging fruit. What about the people who embodied the serious moral centre of the liberal-progressives? What’s Michelle Obama up to?
Oh, just complaining that while living rent-free in the White House, the family had to pay for their own food. And horror of horrors! Pay for their own non-work related travel too! This is so relatable to the average Millennial, who also has to buy their own food. Though they will never be able to afford to buy a home and didn’t get to live in a mansion for free for 8 years.
She also went on Jay Shetty’s podcast to let us know that, despite having a law degree from a very prestigious university, she has absolutely zero fucking clue what she’s talking about, legally speaking. Referring to “what’s happening to immigrants” she said: “We have leadership that is sort of indiscriminately determining who belongs and who doesn’t… You know, ‘I can determine just by looking at you that you’re a good person or not a good person.’”
Uh, that’s not the way immigration law works, Michelle.
And what about the liberal intellectual titans? Oh, here’s New York Times columnist David Brooks, calling for “an uprising” . To be clear - not an uprising of the people, no. That would be rather ghastly. The institutions should rise up. Because demanding that public money gobbling USAID and Harvard adhere to basic moral, ethical and legal standards is an attack on humanity.
He calls on us to man the ramparts to protect “charitable organizations [that] ease suffering, businesses [that] build wealth and spread prosperity, and universities [that] preserve, transmit and advance the glories of our way of life. These institutions make our lives sweet, loving and creative, rather than nasty, brutish and short. Trumpism is threatening all of that.”
Sweet, loving, and creative colleges that turn normal kids into Hamas fanatics and trannies must be protected to the utmost degree! To the barricades!
And how about the normie, non-famous progressives? They are having a very hard time as well. Reality is a shaky construct to these people, and they will not be dissuaded from their apocalyptic visions. This one (and I give it a trigger warning because it’s truly awful) features a woman sporting the above mentioned severe fringe, and wearing a face mask in her own home, browbeating her own grandfather like she was HR and he was a work shy underling who got caught with his hand in the til.
Then there’s this charming lady, who recorded herself asking: “Hey MAGA, is he dead yet? That’s the only conversation that I wanna have with you.” And to show her bona fides as a very sane and well-adjusted female who made excellent life choices, she sports a tee-shirt with the words “is he dead yet?” with a cat on it.
And then there’s the lady who asks: “anyone else having a hard time not just breaking down and crying, several times a day? Because you are just watching the horror happen?”
Tim Pool, in his recent interview with Triggernometry, says his cyber truck was spat on by angry denizens of our enlightened capital city, Washington DC, as was United States Attorney Ed Martin, in this video you can see here:
And what is Trump saying to feed this mass hysteria? Things like:
We will discard those strategies that have not worked—and will apply new approaches informed by experience and judgment. We are adopting a Principled Realism, rooted in common values and shared interests.
Our friends will never question our support, and our enemies will never doubt our determination. Our partnerships will advance security through stability, not through radical disruption. We will make decisions based on real-world outcomes – not inflexible ideology. We will be guided by the lessons of experience, not the confines of rigid thinking. And, wherever possible, we will seek gradual reforms – not sudden intervention.
We must seek partners, not perfection—and to make allies of all who share our goals. Above all, America seeks peace – not war.
Yup, sounds like war world three alright.
"We must seek partners, not perfection—and to make allies of all who share our goals. Above all, America seeks peace – not war." I'm thrilled with these goals! In my own life, I have to frequently remind myself that perfection is the enemy of good. Great piece!!
Pastor Pavlovitz is a United Methodist pastor. From my experience as a United Methodist pastor in New England, I would say that his views are pretty common among the United Methodist Church clergy. I left the UMC largely because I did want to be part of a political organization.
